Save newsletters by email

Skiml gives you a private email address. Anything you forward to it becomes a brief, the same as a page you clip.

Turn it on

1. Open Settings and choose Email forwarding.
2. Click Enable forwarding. Skiml generates a private address for your account.
3. Click Copy to copy the address.
4. Forward a newsletter to it, or use it as the subscribe address when you sign up for a new one.

Each forwarded email lands in your dashboard under the Emails source in the sidebar, with a brief attached.

Trusted senders

Skiml does not brief mail from senders you have not vouched for, because a public-ish address collects junk.

Add a sender domain, for example stratechery.com, under Trusted senders. Newsletters from those domains are briefed automatically. Everything else is held.

The review queue

Mail from a domain you have not trusted goes to Pending review on the same settings page. For each held email you get two choices:

• Save & trust the sending domain, which saves that email and auto-approves future mail from the same domain.
• Discard, which throws it away.

If nothing is waiting, the queue tells you so. This is where a newsletter goes when you subscribed with your Skiml address but never added the sender.

Rotating or turning off your address

Two controls sit next to your address:

• Rotate address generates a new one. The old address stops working immediately, so anything still subscribed to it stops arriving. Use it if the address leaks or starts attracting spam.
• Turn off disables forwarding entirely. Your address stops working until you re-enable it.

Both are confirmed before they take effect.

What it is good for

Newsletters are the classic case of aspirational saving. They arrive whether you asked for them today or not, they pile up unread, and the good ones are indistinguishable from the filler until you open them. Routing them through Skiml means you skim a brief per issue and triage it, rather than carrying a bolded inbox around.

Once a newsletter is in Skiml, it behaves like any other save. It is searchable, taggable, and it flows through triage and your digest.
